(name),
It’s good to see you are progressing in the game. I sincerely hope you are having fun. The point of this letter is to inform you a bit about the types of fields available and the costs associated so that you can make an informed decision about your field. The first, and really the most important, consideration is to find out what the town has need of the most. If the town needs it, you will be able to move your harvest faster. This benefits both you and the town, so be sure and check with the mayor before you choose.
Vegetable Field: This is the simplest and cheapest field to maintain.
Sow: done automatically, so no need to work or hire someone else to do that for you.
Growth cycle: 5 days (grow for 4 days, harvest on the 5th)
Yield: 4 veggies every 5 days.
Cost: 16 pounds to hire one worker every 5 days
Benefits: 1 reputation point every 5 days when you hire
Stat: Charisma, 1 point
Hunger: 1 point each (eat 2 for full HP for day)
Sale price: around 10 pounds
If you sell for 10 pounds each, you make 40 pounds, minus the 16 pounds you paid to harvest, netting 24 pounds per harvest
If you eat your harvest, you spend 16 pounds for 40 pounds worth of veggies and get 4 charisma points
Wheat Field:
Must have a bag of wheat in your house inventory in order to sow
Plough: Hire on Day 1
Sow: Hire on Day 2
Growth cycle: 10 days (Day 1 plough; Day 2 sow; Day 3-9 grow; Day 10 harvest)
Yield: 8-10 bags at harvest – tied to the strength and intelligence stats of your workers – the higher the stats, the higher the yield
Cost: if hiring 19 stats, pay 19 pounds, so 19 x 3 = 57 pounds
Benefits: 3 reputation points per cycle for hiring all three jobs
Sale price: around 13 pounds so 13 x 10 bags = 130 pounds – 57 cost = 73 pounds profit every 10 days
Corn Field:
Must have a bag of corn in your house in order to sow
Plough and Sow: Hire on Day 1 (only need 1 person to do both jobs)
Growth cycle: 7 days (Day 1 plough/sow; Day 2-6 grow; Day 7 harvest)
Yield: 19-22 bags at harvest – tied to the strength stats of your workers – the higher the stats, the higher the yield
Cost: if hiring 19 stats, pay 19 pounds, so 19 x 2 = 38 pounds
Benefits: 2 reputation points per cycle for hiring both jobs
Sale price: around 3.25 pounds so 22 x 3.25 bags = 71.50 pounds – 38 cost = 33.5 pounds profit every 7 days
These guidelines are based on best case estimates and results may vary depending on your choice of workers and the market condition when you try to sell. Animal ranches are very expensive and not recommended for first time field owners, so if you have questions about those, let me know and I will be happy to address your questions personally.
You may wish to work your own fields the first time through to save money on hiring. Understand that you will be foregoing the opportunity to earn money through another job, but it’s not a bad way to start out with your field. Questions? Comments? Suggestions? All are welcome!
At your service,
Bevin
